It was a nice and relaxing weekend. The resort that we stayed at was somewhere between Bastrop and Austin. It was called the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. Very upscale place. Edward Jones paid for everything. Our meals were taken care of, our room was on them, even mileage is on them!!!! That's a big thing these days. :-) It wasn't all fun and games for the guys but they were out of meetings by noon, just in time for us to have an incredible lunch and then out to the pool to spend the rest of the day. Oh and get this..... They even paid to have professional babysitters on site!!!! It was amazing. We had a formal dinner night which was a lot of fun. I got to play dress up and get out of my normal jeans and shirt routine for work and scrubs for school.

So pretty much, the whole weekend we spent out at the pool floating the lazy river that wrapped around the resort. It was such an exclusive, tucked away place. On the second day there, Brian surprised me and had an hour massage set up for me. I was pampered and spoiled the whole weekend and it was great!!!!

While we were there too, the 12th Man Foundation was there. So we were walking around with a bunch of Aggies...couldn't have been better :-)

This is how we found Brooklyn the first day we dropped her off at the babysitters....it was so cute. She even still had her balloon tied to her wrist.

The first night at dinner they did kid introductions and Brooklyn was not going to be left out

The first night we took a walk around the pool and was not expecting Brooklyn to want to get in. I was able to meet a lot of wives and hear their stories of how they struggled and got through the first couple of years when their husband's were starting out in Edward Jones. It is a true family though. Everyone knows everyone and they do such a good job of wrapping their arms around the new families and making them feel welcomed. I don't know of a place that takes the entire family and puts them up in a 5 star resort and pays for everything and encourages them to bring their kids. I am really looking forward in watching Brian and I grow in this company.

This is to Gdad, Bapu, Molz, Katie and Corey.....(pause the music that I have on this site)

Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-41356311745664577782008-06-06T06:54:00.000-07:002008-06-06T07:17:17.531-07:00Pondering....I am feeling a little lonely right now so I thought I would sit and type. My baby girl has been gone since Tuesday night and this has been the longest time she has ever spent away from us. I honestly thought it wouldn't be too big of a deal because people send their kids to their grandparents for a week at a time and I have always wondered what it felt like to be able to get rid of your kid for that long. Well, let me tell you, it is not easy or for me it isn't. I have been so used to having her with me all day everyday and then to go from not even getting to see her for a week has been traumatic for me.

Isn't amazing what entertainment your kids can bring you. You think when they are around and in their terrible two's how irritated and stressed out you can get. It seems like they are either bugging you to get them something, whining, climbing on your leg when you are cooking, crying for no apparent reason, etc. and you just want to hand them off to the first stranger that comes along. I have been without my little neusence (spelling ?) since Tuesday night and I don't get to see her till later on tonight!!!!

Why you might ask??? We have gone through some major changes in the Ruff Family. I decided that I was finally going to take charge in my life and do something for myself and try to pursue my dream of being a nurse (if I could do it all over again I would have been a plastic surgeon but seeing that isn't going to happen with a kid at home, I will settle for being a nurse in the plastic surgeon field). I enrolled myself into a Medical Assistant program. I am hoping this will put me one step closer to getting my RN. It is a 10 month program and I am taking the night classes from 6-10pm. When I did it and all the excitement went away, reality sank in and all the concerns came.... how are Brian and Brooklyn going to handle me not being there at night cooking dinner, how is Brian going to do with giving Brooklyn a bath, dinner, and getting her down at night, why am I putting us into more debt, can I really do this, is this what I want to do, all these things.....then I stopped and told myself, "You CAN do this, you NEED to do this, and I have taken care of Brooklyn at night for a long time, Brian can do the same thing, it is just dinner, bath and bedtime." So I have been doing it for about 3 weeks now and I can tell you, I ABSOLUTELY love it!!!!!!! Hands down, love it!!!!!

On top of putting myself in this program, I started a new job!!! It is a stress free job at an oil and gas company and the most laid back atomosphere. Something I need right now since I am putting all my energy into school.

SSOOOOO..............

I start school, I get a job, my parents are in the middle of settling into their new house, Brian's mom is in the middle of training for a new job, Brooklyn can't start school till Monday.....kind of in a bind. Only option we have is to send her to College Station with Aunt Katie for the week. That is why Brooklyn has been gone.

Don't get me wrong, she is having the time of her life down there right now. Of course, I have called at least 30 times a day to check on her but my sister has also done a very good job of taking pictures and sending them to me. I am sure Brooklyn's feet haven't touched the ground since she got there, she has been spoiled to the max and I am going to have to undo everything Katie has done. I know they have taken her to get pizza, ice cream, movies, to the park, shopping, sleeping in the bed with her at night (BIG THING I AM GOING TO HAVE TO UNDO). So I know she is having the time of her life while I am sitting at home just longing for a hug from my little baby girl. :-(

But she is coming home tonight and I am counting down the hours!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss my sweet angel. Now ask me in about 2 weeks and I might be ready to get rid of her again...hahahahahaha.Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-55171965247870937122008-06-01T09:39:00.000-07:002008-06-01T10:50:33.868-07:00Sex and the City girl's night outThe movie was even better than what I expected of it!!!! Even though it was almost a 3 hour movie, it was hilarious!! I have never laughed so much in a movie. It was a fun filled night and was more than I had hoped for.

The girl on your left (in the pink) is a long time friend of mine. We grew up together in Bristol. Then the girl on the right is my sister, Katie.Us sitting in the theatre anxiously waiting on the movie to start. This was just part of the line waiting to get into the movie. It was incredible the amount of women at the movies. We got there an hour and a half early and it wasn't even early enough!!!! The funniest part was, I overheard a man's conversation he was having on his cellphone with a friend of his and he said, "MAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!!!! You should be at the movie theatre toooonight!!!!!" It was hilarious. It was defintely a meat market at the movies that night.

On another note, Brooklyn got her cast off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, we can swim, take baths, eat like a regualr toddler, walk down the stairs using either side of her body to help her, etc. It was a glorious day to have the cast off. Enjoy the pics.

One last picture of her with her cast. And it was off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She didn't even cry or get scared when he started the saw up. She was such a big girl about it.

Some of her enjoying herself (naked) in Bapu and Gdad's pool for the last time!!!! Some of you may know, my parents are moving to North Dallas. Actually, we helped them move yesterday. It is fun and exciting for them but a little sad. My little sister is going to be going back to school where she started sooo many years ago and it is also where me and my other sister graduated from. There are a lot of changes going on with them and they felt this was the right thing to do for them as a family. We will miss them living in Midlothian but we will enjoy that when Brooklyn goes to see her Bapu and Gdad, it will have to be for a whole weekend and not just over night!!!! :-)Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-8705588272956182612008-05-30T12:21:00.000-07:002008-05-30T12:30:32.407-07:00Sex and the City tonight!!!!!!!

Is it bad that I am acting like a 5 year old on Christmas morning when it comes to seeing Sex and the City tonight?????? SOOOOOO............we decided that we would just have family over to my mom and dad's pool and have a little cake and ice cream and call that her birthday party for the year. We will have another big party next year.

I am still in awe everyday of how much she has really grown in the last year. Time has flown by so fast and I wonder if there is anything that I have messed of her growing up. As I sat and watched our 2 year old play around in the pool along with all of her second cousins, it gave me such a sense of happiness. I was raised with all of my cousins around me and we were a very tight knit family and we had always talked about keeping our family close and it has finally come the day where our family has expanded and grown outside the means of a house but yet we still all come together in the littlest spaces just so we can keep the family together. I know one day Brooklyn is going to be telling her friends at school about her cousins and she will actually be talking about her 2nd cousins. There aren't many people out there who know their 2nd cousins or even most of their 1st cousins, to me, that is something special.

Thanks to my family for sharing in this special day with Brooklyn and making memories with her!!!! We love you so much!!!!!
Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-14466647485099164722008-05-09T16:56:00.000-07:002008-05-09T17:12:17.827-07:00Happy Birthday to Brooklyn!!!!

Well, my baby girl turned 2 years old today!!!! Brian and I are so addicted to Brooklyn's love and personality and we enjoy taking her out and doing things with her now. She is at the age where she is interested in everything and she really listens and sometimes actually understands us. She keeps us laughing all the time. I really don't know where are funny personality comes from. Brian and I are amazed every day that we made such a special little person. Just tonight we were getting her ready for bed and she started saying, "Dance, Dance mommy." I got up and she wanted to hold my hands and dance with me. No music, just us dancing. It was the sweetest thing and she laughed the whole time. You can tell that when we spend time with her, she is the happiest person on Earth. She loves for us all to sit down on the floor and play together, except it usually turns into Brian and I laughing so hard at her because she is so silly.

I could go on how in love we are with our child (which I am sure every parent knows what we are talking about). She just brings us such joy and fills our lives with happiness.

On with the blog.........

So our weekends. Last weekend we went to Aunt Molly's stockshow at the Ft. Worth stockyards and we had a blast. This year was the first year Brooklyn actually knew what a cow was and what they said. When she fell, she fell off of another toy onto another one and it hit her in the mouth. Wasn't a big deal till we got home and I examined her a little bit and noticed some bruising on the back of her gums. Kind of paniced a little bit and didn't know if she was going to loose her teeth or if they came loose so my mom put a call into a friend of hers and they told us to take her by a recommended pediatric dentist and let them look at her. So on to our first dentist appointment she went. I was not there to experience it with her because I was called to sub for the first time ever, so I asked my mom to take her and take lots of pictures. If any of you guys need a pediatric dentist, this one was highly recommended and my mom loved the lady!!!! I don't think Brooklyn had a good time....:-)

To finish out her week, the Elliott's and the Ruff's decided that we wanted to do something fun for the kiddos instead of doing something for us. We are always going out to eat where the kids can't play with anything or we have to wait FOREVER to get seated because we have 3 toddlers and 4 adults. So this weekend we decided to take the kids and the boys (Brian and Chuck) to Chuck E Cheese. Wow!!!!!! Don't go on a Friday or Saturday night. Big mistake. Kids everywhere and screaming, birthday parties go on all around us, it was nuts. But fun and something new we haven't done with the kids.

And, a match made in heaven!!!!!!!!!

Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-75379987219136267092008-01-22T07:53:00.000-08:002008-01-22T08:30:58.881-08:00Just A Little of EverythingI haven't blogged in awhile. We have been extremely busy the last couple of weeks and I am not sure what happened. Brian and I were talking yesterday about how we make a commitment to go to a financial class every Sunday at our church because we were always open on Sunday afternoons. We would usually go out for lunch and then go home and rest the whole day. Well, since we made a commitment to attend this class, everything starts popping up!!!

We were supposed to go for the first class last week. If you know Brian and his family, they are avid Cowboys fans and like we were going to miss seeing the game for the financial class, heck no!!! Plus, we were having them over to celebrate Brian's birthday too.

Brian picked out this cake and decided that we should have a themed birthday party for him & since we were watching the game, we decided to go with the Cowboys. It was really fun and we were laughing in the store the night before because it was like we were 4 years old again picking out all the decorations and things for a birthday party. :-)

Sometime during that week we had the Brandt kids over for 2 nights while mommy and daddy had to work and go to the academy. We enjoyed having them at our house and I know Brooklyn did too. She actually adopted Lucas as her "bubba" too. She would hear Hallie call him bubba and so Brooklyn just followed along. Lucas on the other hand would tell Brooklyn, "I am not your bubba, I am LUCAS!!!!" hahahahahahahaha. It was so funny and Brooklyn would call him Lucas for about 2 minutes and then she was right back calling him bubba.
Lucas cleaned and vaccumed the whole time he was at my house. I am not sure if he thought my house needed to be clean or if his mommy and daddy make him clean all the time....hahahahaha just kidding Rakel and Justin. :-) No, Brooklyn got a vaccumm for Christmas and it actually vaccums. So he loved it.

Hallie enjoying her popsicle.

One night during the time that we had the Brandt kids, was on a Friday night and it was the Friday after Brian's birthday and we have a tradition in our family that we go to Cheesecake Factory on the weekend following your birthday. We thought about waiting till that Saturday night to go since the Brandt kids wouldn't be here (plus, Chuck and Blaine Elliott and their two boys were going with us so that would be 5 little toddlers eating at Cheesecake) but seeing that the Brandt kids were not trouble for me at all, we decided that we would take them with us. I mean, we are planning on having 3 kids one day, is that going to stop us from going out to eat? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Little did we know we were going to have to wait for 2 hours, my dad talking to the manager about how ridiculous it was, & it was 8 and the kids were all hungry. Lots of fun, huh? So we sat them all down on the floor and ate snacks and played little games with them to try and pass the time. Didn't bother Lucas, he was still trying to love on the girls.

We decided on the last morning that I had the kids, we would take them to the Ft. Worth stockyard parade that is non-motorized. It is all done with horses. It was a lot of fun but it was very cold!!!!!!!! The A&M Corp of Cadets were even there!!!!

We tried to get to the rodea Sunday but it was all sold out. We were up there with my little sister, Molly, stockshow. She shows cows for the FFA and was up there doing all of her FFA stuff and we just thought we would make a day of it and go to the rodeo that night, didn't quite work out that way. So we are going to try for another weekend to do that.

Brian is doing really good at his new office. He loves the area and seems to be having more success with door knocking than what he was in Cedar Hill. He hates the drive though. I wish there was a solution to this problem but unfortunately we have to wait till we sale our house to be able to move over there. But he loves it!

Also, I know I sent out an email last week asking for prayers for the Gerwer Quads. They are still needing your prayers. If you look at our links on the right, their's is the one named Gerwer Quads. This family had a lot of trouble getting pregnant and had to go through some tough times with this pregnancy. She delivered and the babies are doing really good and fighting on their own but mom and dad have to leave the hospital without their miracles. Mom went through some trauma after giving birth as well. You can read all about it in their blog. I just wanted to reach out to everyone who checks on us to ask you to send some prayers up for them. They will need it for awhile until the babies have the strength to be on their own and get to go home. So please pray for them.

Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-47534144139090108742008-01-16T08:31:00.000-08:002008-01-16T08:34:03.354-08:00Our House is on the market!!!Ok guys, we need your help!!!!

I have added a link to our house. Brian and I thought we would try to do some advertising on our own to get our house sold. So we created a blog for our house so that you can tell your friends or whoever to go there and you can see all the pictures you want of the house. I am sure our blog is a little more in depth (picture wise) than the Ebby Halliday site is but use the ebby site to look at sizes and square footage and everything.

Spread the word!!!!!!

The blog link is under "our links we love to look at" and it is named A HOUSE FOR SALE!!!!! But if you want to give the address to someone it is www.ruffhomeforsale.blogspot.com.Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-91772791971014969062008-01-09T09:28:00.000-08:002008-01-12T06:44:29.817-08:00God truly does answer prayers!!!!!Well, for those of you who don't know, WE ARE MOVING TO FT. WORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There has been an Edward Jones office open in Ft. Worth for about 7 weeks and Brian and I have been kicking around the idea of taking it and moving and starting a new chapter in our lives. We seriously talked about it last week, went to take a look at it, meet the assistant out there (yes, Brian officially has an assistant), and take a look around at the neighborhoods and houses around to see if we could actually live out there. We feel in love with the area. Our house, his office, and maybe Brooklyn's daycare are all within 2 to 3 miles of each other. Brian put the phone call in to Corporate and told them that he was interested and wanted to know the process that he needed to start in getting the office.

So, he took on the process and contacted all the right people but we didn't hear anything back from anyone on Friday. Come Monday morning of course we are bitting our nails and getting anxious to know if there had been in progress on Brian putting his name in for the office. Well, to make a long story short, by Monday afternoon Brian was offered the office and gladly accepted it and they wanted him to start Tuesday, not the next weel Tuesday but the next day!!!!!!

Brian and I have had a long road to travel down to get our marriage back on track. We have prayed every day, every night to give us strength to fight through every bad road we have turned down and to learn to forgive and move on and make the best out of everything. When Brian started mentioning being a little interested in the Ft. Worth office, we talked and thought it would be a good move for us. We have started over in our marriage and we thought it would be good for us to start a fresh chapter in our lives "together."

We are very excited to see what this new chapter of our lives brings us. We have been praying since we found out that he has the office about if this is the Lord calling us to do something with our lives and if this is the directions He wants us to take and we can not ignore the signs that He has given us in this journey. Everything is falling right into place. I continue on a daily basis praying and thanking Him for what He is opening up for us and not taking anything for granted and making sure that we are going in the right directions and to continue my faith through this whole relocating. I know there are going to come some very difficult and trying times through this process (for example: selling our house!!!!!) and I pray that I will focus on God and know that we are doing what is best for our family and pray that we don't question God about anything that might go wrong.

Please pray for us and think about us through this whole ordeal. It is scary thinking that we are uprooting our child, taking her away from the best babysitter in the world, and moving to a place that we are not fimiliar with and try to make a life for ourselves out there. I just keep thinking that we are bettering our lives by doing this. I hope that made sense!!! hahahahahahaBrian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-29954060954175061192007-12-26T15:20:00.001-08:002007-12-26T15:20:30.597-08:00Just another one for fun!!!

Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-59526660450805956292007-12-26T15:01:00.001-08:002007-12-26T15:01:52.633-08:00A little show of Christmas

Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-24645614316155991312007-12-26T14:48:00.000-08:002007-12-26T15:02:35.315-08:00Christmas with the Ruff'sWell, this year for Christmas we got to stay the night with Bapu and Gdad (Ashley's parents). It was a very special Christmas. Because of some of the events in the past month, the whole family was together again under one roof. It was such and amazing feeling to have all the sisters back in one house with mom and dad. Waking up Christmas morning brought back so many past memories for us girls. But this year when we woke up, we had little Brooklyn who was way into Christmas this year. We are were so excited to run into the living room and watch her walk in and see the presents Santa had brought for her.

Uncle Corey, Aunt "Tatie" and dad stayed up the night before putting together all the riding things Brooklyn had got. It was such a joy to see her smiling little face walk in and see her big Tiger and bike sitting there.

We were all so thankful to be blessed so much to have the ability buy things for our child and family. The week before Christmas, my mom and mimi and myself went around and collected presents from the CPS angel trees. It was so emotional to see all the presents that people were willing to get for kids that they will never met in their lives. Knowing that people will go and spend money on kids not their own is so heart felt. Christmas has become so commercialized and people don't ever really stop and thinking about what the true spirit of Christmas is and to know that there are people out there who still have that "true" spirit of Christmas makes my heart all warm and fuzzy.

Enjoy the slide show.Brian, Ashley & Brooklynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16823544120019161951noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3617887708599632911.post-43245479694243990202007-12-26T14:37:00.001-08:002007-12-26T14:38:46.944-08:00Back on here!!!!Well the Ruff's have decided to put back up there blog site.
